This research study linked fall, winter, and spring Exact Path diagnostic scores to spring OST scores across all grades 3–8 in math and English language arts. Linking study results demonstrated that 78 to 86 percent of students were accurately predicted to be at or above the OST proficient cut score based on their Exact Path diagnostic scores.

Strong correlations were found between Exact Path diagnostic scores and OST scores across all grades 3–8, subjects, and seasons. Strong correlations between Exact Path diagnostic scores and OST end-of-course (EOC) scores in algebra 1, geometry, and English language arts II were also found. Additionally, this study found high correlations between Exact Path diagnostic scores from Grades 1–2 in mathematics, reading, and language arts and OST Grade 3 scores from 1 to 2 years later.

In preparation for OH OST assessments, educators can use Exact Path diagnostic results to:

  • Identify K-12 students who need additional support
  • Prioritize content areas to focus on
  • Inform data-driven math, reading, and OH EOC instruction and targeted intervention
  • Help ensure that students are on track to meet academic standards
